Concordia University, Nebraska awards scholarships of at least $1,000 to LSM alumni who audition at Concordia, up to a maximum of $5,000 for music majors and $2,000 for non-majors. Scholarships require ensemble participation and lessons, and are renewable annually for 4 or 5 years (depending on the degree sought). Students receiving both the top music and the top academic scholarships often have nearly their full tuition covered.
Concordia offers a B.Mus. in music education and church music, a B.S. in education with a music major, and a B.A. in music (performance, church music, conducting, theory and composition, general studies). Our full-time music faculty members have over 30 published compositions, a national book prize and a Grammy nomination in jazz, and over half have won awards for excellence in teaching. Our ensembles include the nationally touring Symphonic Band and Chamber Choir, the prize-winning and internationally touring A Cappella Choir, the Chamber Orchestra and several small ensembles. Our music building contains a recently renovated recital hall, a lab with 16 workstations for composition and analysis, and 13 pipe organs by 11 different builders.
