ALCM Partnership

A highlight at the ALCM conference was to experience the hymn festival along with the students who were participants of Lutheran Summer Music. What a blessing to see, hear, and sing with these young people. -Linda Martin, ALCM region 3 president

From Generation to Generation

Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) is proud to partner with the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM), an organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting church musicians across the country. Together, we share a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians, building up vibrant worshiping communities, and preserving the rich traditions of sacred and classical music.

Through this partnership, LSM and ALCM seek to:

  • Provide meaningful opportunities for education, networking, and mentorship between professional church musicians and students.

  • Highlight the vital role of music in worship and community life.

  • Connect the LSM community with the wider network of church musicians across the United States.

About ALCM

The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) is a nationwide organization that provides resources, support, and professional development for church musicians. From annual conferences and regional gatherings to an active job board and publications, ALCM equips musicians to serve faithfully and creatively in congregations of all sizes.

Now and Forever

ALCM Conference and LSM 2026 at St. Olaf College

We are thrilled to share that in the summer of 2026, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) will hold its national conference at St. Olaf College—the same campus that will host Lutheran Summer Music (LSM). This unique overlap will create adynamic summer hub for intergenerational learning, performance, and renewal in classical and sacred music.

A Meeting of Two Communities

  • ALCM Conference Attendees: Church musicians and leaders from across the country will gather at St. Olaf to learn, share, and grow together in their vocation.

  • LSM Students and Community: High school musicians and nationally-renowned faculty will be in residence at the same time, in an immersive four-week academy with daily instruction, worship, and performance.

Shared Opportunities

This overlap will open doors for meaningful intersections between the two communities, including:

  • Joint worship services, concerts, and workshops that bring together church musicians and the next generation of leaders.

  • A professional performance of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, offering an unforgettable experience.
