How to Enroll

  • Submit a FREE online application and create your own LSM Dashboard.

  • The risk-free application includes get-to-know you questions, and submitting a video audition link. See audition requirements.

  • Once your application is submitted, LSM Admissions will contact you to inform you of your status. If accepted, pay the $250 deposit within 30 days to secure your place. If waitlisted, no payments are due until placement is offered.

  • If you’ve already started an application or been accepted, visit your LSM Dashboard to complete your application, make payments, or update your information.

Application Deadlines & Tuition Schedule

The LSM academy is designed for a capacity of 150 students, with a maximum of 20 Half Session students. Each instrument area also has capacity limits. Spots often fill before the final deadline, so we encourage all interested students to apply as early as possible each year, to help secure their spot at LSM.

August 1, 2025 - Early Enrollment Deadline | $2,795 Tuition Cost + $100 Discount

    • Priority Tuition Rate ($2,895 Full Session / $2,095 Half Session)

    • Full Session Students who apply or re-enroll between August 1-December 1, 2025 will be accepted on a monthly basis and, once accepted, are guaranteed enrollment.

    • Half Session students who apply or re-enroll between August 1-December 1, 2025 will be accepted after December 1, based on order of application and studio capacity. Half Session students not accepted will be added to a waitlist, and offered placement if a spot becomes available.

    • Standard Tuition Rate ($2,945 Full Session / $2,145 Half Session)

    • Full Session students who apply between December 2, 2025-March 1, 2026 will be accepted on a monthly basis, by order of application and studio capacity.

    • Half Session students who apply December 2, 2025-March 1, 2026 will be accepted after March 1, based on order of application and studio capacity.

    • Students not accepted will be added to a waitlist, and offered placement if a spot becomes available.

    • Late Tuition Rate ($2,995 Full Session / $2,195 Half Session)

    • Full Session students who apply between March 2, 2025-May 1, 2026 will be accepted on a rolling basis, by order of application and studio capacity.

    • Half Session students who apply March 2, 2025-May 1, 2026 will be accepted after May 1, based on order of application and studio capacity.

    • Students not accepted will be added to a waitlist and offered placement if a spot becomes available.

    • Limited spaces may still be available, depending on instrument area capacity.

    • Final waitlist spots will be offered, pending availability.

Audition Requirements

  • One vocal solo work demonstrating technical skills and musical expression

    Keyboard accompaniment is preferable

  • One instrumental solo work demonstrating technical skills and musical expression

    Two major and two minor scales

    Keyboard accompaniment is preferable, unless not required by the score

  • Demonstrate technical skills and musical expression on 2-3 percussion instruments, which may include snare, mallet instruments, and timpani.

    Two major and two minor scales (if including a mallet instrument).

  • One solo work demonstrating technical skills and musical expression

    Two piano/organ major and two minor scales

    Keyboard students are required to participate in a large ensemble and must submit one solo work on another instrument or voice. Less experienced vocalists may sing a one-octave scale on "la" and the melody of a familiar hymn or folk tune.

  • One or two solo works demonstrating range of technical skills and musical expression

  • Students who are auditioning for primary composition placement must submit:

    Two sample manuscripts of their original work. Manuscripts can be sent via email or mail and will not be returned. All submissions must be in written form; recordings will not be accepted.

    An audition recording of their secondary instrument or voice for large ensemble placement.

Refunds

If a student withdraws:

  • On or before December 1, 2025: a 100% refund will be provided for families, including the deposit.

  • On or before March 1, 2026: a 100% refund will be provided for families less the deposit. Local funds from churches or other community organizations will also be refunded as requested.

  • On or before May 15, 2026: a 50% refund will be provided for families less the deposit. Local funds from churches or other community organizations will also be refunded as requested.

  • On or before June 15, 2026: Match eligible funds are refundable to churches and organizations only. No other refunds will be provided.

ONCE THE ACADEMY IS IN SESSION, in any event that you are dismissed or you decide to withdraw for any reason, fees will not be refunded.  It will be your responsibility to repay or otherwise keep good faith with congregations or other persons who contributed financial support directly to you.  Lutheran Music Program is not responsible for repayment or refund of any funds which were not awarded directly by the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival.
