LSM Alum Marko Bajzer Premieres Composition with Rochester Symphony
LSM alum Marko Bajzer (LSM 2004–2006) recently returned to his hometown of Rochester for the premiere of his newest orchestral work, Sky-Tinted Water, performed by the Rochester Symphony.

LSM Faculty Dr. Jeffrey Doebler Conducts Free Concerts: Saturday, February 21st
LSM Festival Band Director and Director of Bands at Valparaiso University, Dr. Jeffrey Scott Doebler, will conduct two bands concerts on Saturday, February 21st at Valparaiso University in the Chapel of the Resurrection. Both concerts are free, and open to the public; no ticket is required.

On Wednesday, February 4th 2026, LSM faculty member Paul Morton played Taps at the World War I Monument in Washington D.C.
An LSM Reunion at Grace Lutheran Church
Michael Costello (LSM 1993-1996) and Johanna Johnson were joined in River Forest, IL on Sunday, February 1st by four LSM alumni to sing for worship! Lena, Eden, Andy, and Damaris enjoyed a mid-winter reunion while singing in the Grace Parish Choir.
LSM at the National Lutheran Choir’s 2026 Tune-Up: Saturday, January 31st
LSM Alumni and Staff, Eric Sayre (LSM 2004-2005) played trumpet in a brass quintet in collaboration with the National Lutheran Choir's 2026 Choral Tune-Up. NLC had a great turnout of singers, and the event was a huge success!
2026 Hymn Tune Project Winner: KINGSFOLD
The Hymn Tune Project results are in! The LSM community has chosen KINGSFOLD (“I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say”) as the tune to be newly arranged by Anne Krentz Organ.
LSM Faculty Plays 4-Hand Recitals: A Night at the Ballet
Nicole Lee (LSM piano faculty) and Joseph Bognar (former LSM faculty) are hitting the road with their highly-anticipated recital, A Night at the Ballet! This program features a piano transcription of the Nutcracker Suite by Pytor Tchaikovsky, and music by Aaron Copland, Maurice Ravel, and Claude Debussy.
LSM Community Participates in Memorial Service
LSM alumni and other members of the LSM community contributed to a memorial service for Richard Wagner, former Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Houston, Texas. Trinity has been a longtime supporter of LSM.
LSM Faculty Reunite at University of Louisiana Lafayette
LSM Faculty members Cheryl Lemmons and Paul Morton reunited in Lafayette, Louisiana, when Lemmons played in a recital for one of Morton’s trumpet students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Both Lemmons and Morton are longtime LSM Faculty, with a combined 51 summers at LSM.
Lawrence University Choir Concert Features LSM Community Members
Lawrence University Choirs performed a concert on November 14, 2025, featuring members of the LSM community. Dr. Shannon Gravelle, who leads the LSM Festival Choir, conducted two ensembles and was joined by former LSM fellow Isaac Keith and LSM Alumni Donte, Eden, and John Paul.
This is just one example of the many ways LSM’s community lasts long after the end of the summer. Congratulations to all involved!

On Nov. 20, LSM Concert Band conductor Jeffrey Scott Doebler will conduct Windiana in a concert program featuring “A Movement for Rosa” by Mark Camphouse.
LSM Community Contributes to Dallas Lutheran Hymn Festival
LSM's community and support for church music spread far beyond the confines of our summer academy. Many LSM community members attended and took part in last weekend's Dallas Hymn Festival, which celebrates the Lutheran musical tradition's long history and bright future.
Valparaiso University Homecoming Showcase Includes LSM Community Members
Valparaiso University’s Homecoming Showcase tomorrow, October 25, will feature LSM faculty and alumni. Join the LSM and Valparaiso communities tomorrow, October 25, at 4:00 PM to celebrate VU’s Homecoming and the strong relationship between our institutions. The concert will take place in the Chapel of the Resurrection.
Kai Offers “Beach Spring” in Worship
LSM Student Kai (LSM 2025) played Beach Spring, an LSM Hymn Tune Project arrangement, during the Offertory at Peace Lutheran Church in Salem, OR, on September 21. This new arrangement by Liturgical Composer in Residence Anne Krentz Organ was commissioned for the 2025 LSM community.
Chad Fothergill Featured as Composer in Lankford Arts Series
On October 26, LSM Cantor Chad Fothergill (LSM 2000) will be featured in the Lankford Arts Series at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The concert will include a new hymn arrangement for organ, brass, and timpani arranged by Fothergill, alongside other works by Bach and Luther.
Dr. Jeffrey Doebler and Valparaiso University Band to Tour Indiana and Ohio
The Valparaiso University Chamber Concert Band will tour Indiana and Ohio this October 9-12 under the direction of LSM Festival Band Conductor Dr. Doebler.
