Worship Announcements & Links
Abendmusik and Morgenmusik: In addition to recitals and studio classes, there are many opportunities for you, your students, or your chamber ensembles to sing or play at morning prayer, evening prayer, and on Sunday mornings. If there’s a piece you’d like to offer as Abendmusik (a prelude at evening prayer) or Morgenmusik (something on Sunday morning), let us know by using this form.
Instrumental Parts: As you will see and hear on Monday and Tuesday, we’d like to incorporate more instrumental leadership during services: contact Anne if you’re interested in doing this or if you have ideas about how to involve your students. And once we’ve had a chance to meet the chapel choir, we’ll have a better idea of what’s possible for the festival of hymns on Sunday morning, 21 July: instrumental parts for any special arrangements during festival week should be known by early in week 2.
Other Leadership Roles: Every member of the LSM community is welcome to participate in worship by reading, greeting, carrying things, serving communion on Sunday mornings, and more. You can learn more about these opportunities here.
Departure
A shuttle will depart Valparaiso University at 11:30am on July 28 to both Midway and O’Hare airports. If you are flying, please schedule your departure time for 3:00pm or later.
Parking
If you are driving to campus, and plan to have a vehicle during LSM, you will receive a free parking pass. Be prepared to share your vehicle information upon check in.
Arrival Information
Check-In Process: Please come to your designated residence hall (Beacon, Promenade, or Guild-Memorial) to check in and unload if you are driving. A campus map and residence hall maps are attached to this email to assist you, as well as a housing list. This information is also on the webpage listed above. Once you arrive at the residence hall, a VU conference assistant will check you in. At the residence hall, you will receive a key to your housing, a One Card for meals and building access, and your parking pass. If you arrive at your residence hall and do not see a conference assistant, call 219-232-8205. A conference assistant will come and meet you at the respective building you are staying in to check you in.
Keys: You will be provided with physical keys to your respective office/studio and other areas you will need to access during your time at LSM. To receive your office/studio keys, contact Seth Hartwell, Academy Director at 612-368-5585 or stop by VUCA 1409. Please note that there is a $50 lost key charge and a $50 lost OneCard charge. If you lose either, please call Will at 219-464-5372.
One Card: The One Card is your meal card and will be swiped by dining services at every meal. Your One Card also provides building access for those needing it to the Chapel, the Helge Center, and the Percussion Studio in the VUCA.
Wi-Fi Access: Wi-Fi access is available all summer across campus with the following log-in and password:
