LSM Alum Marko Bajzer Premieres Composition with Rochester Symphony

LSM alum Marko Bajzer (LSM 2004–2006) recently returned to his hometown of Rochester for the premiere of his newest orchestral work, Sky-Tinted Water, performed by the Rochester Symphony.

The 12-minute piece grew out of Bajzer’s Artist-in-Residence experience at Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota and is part of his larger series, From Sea to Shining Sea, inspired by the U.S. National Parks. Sky-Tinted Water weaves together orchestral color with field recordings captured during his time in the park — including the sounds of water, loons, and even mosquitoes — creating an immersive tribute to the landscape.

Now based in Mill Valley, Bajzer’s homecoming premiere was made even more special by the presence of several LSM friends in the audience. Congratulations, Marko, on this beautiful new work!
