In the summer of 2026, Lutheran Summer Music is proud to partner with the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, with both organizations in residence at St. Olaf College, creating a shared setting for intergenerational learning, performance, and renewal in classical and sacred music.
Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) share a longstanding commitment to music in worship, education, and community life. This partnership reflects a shared investment in supporting church musicians and students, strengthening musical leadership, and sustaining the traditions of sacred and classical music.
A Shared Focus
Through this partnership, LSM and ALCM seek to:
Provide meaningful opportunities for education, networking, and mentorship between professional church musicians and students
Highlight the role of music in worship and community life
Connect the LSM community with a national network of church musicians
ALCM Conference and LSM 2026 at St. Olaf College
During the summer of 2026, ALCM will hold its national conference at St. Olaf College while LSM is in session for its four-week academy and festival. Church musicians and leaders from across the country will gather for worship, workshops, and discussion, while LSM students and faculty are in residence for daily instruction, worship, and performance.
This timing creates opportunities for shared experiences between the two communities, including joint worship services, concerts, and workshops that bring together church musicians and emerging leaders.
A featured event of the conference week will be a professional performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, offering a significant musical experience rooted in the shared liturgical and artistic traditions central to both organizations.

The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians is a nationwide organization that supports church musicians through conferences, regional gatherings, professional resources, publications, and networking opportunities. ALCM equips musicians to serve congregations faithfully and creatively in a wide range of contexts.
